DUBAI – Global superstar Shah Rukh Khan was presented with the prestigious Global Style Icon Award at the inaugural Dubai Mall Global Fashion Awards last night, solidifying his status as not just a cinematic legend but a global fashion influencer.
The Bollywood megastar accepted the accolade at a gala held at the Armani Hotel Dubai, marking the culmination of the two-day Dubai Mall Festival of Fashion, which ran from 29-30 January.
The award ceremony drew fashion figures, designers and cultural icons from around the world, transforming the iconic Dubai Mall into a vibrant hub of creativity, style and cultural celebration. Organised by Lana, the festival featured masterclasses, runway showcases and industry talks before reaching its peak with the awards night.

Shah Rukh Khan, known for his decades-long influence in film and culture, shared a characteristic mix of humility and humour in his acceptance speech, joking that he “usually just wears blue jeans and a white shirt.” The moment brought laughter and applause, underlining his effortless connection with audiences.
Global Style Icon Award
Presented by Mohamed Alabbar, founder of Emaar Properties, the honour reflected both Khan’s impact on fashion and his global appeal. The two shared a warm embrace on stage as the accolade was conferred, a symbolic moment for the event’s international stature.
Through his career spanning more than three decades and more than 100 films – with a global box office exceeding $1 billion – Shah Rukh Khan has become one of the most recognisable cultural figures worldwide, his influence extending well beyond cinema into fashion, culture and entertainment.
The night also celebrated other talents in fashion, with Manish Malhotra receiving the Couture Designer of the Year award. Malhotra also dressed Shah Rukh Khan for the occasion in a sharply tailored black suit, blending classic elegance with contemporary polish.

The festival’s Day One offered ticketed masterclasses featuring global fashion and beauty figures, designed to share insights into styling, design and creative process with the public. Day Two unfolded with the runway presentations and awards ceremony, spotlighting excellence across fashion categories and cultural influence.
Dubai Mall, the world’s most visited mall, provided a fitting backdrop for the festival and awards night, housing over 1,200 retail outlets, 200 dining options and major attractions including the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, Reel Cinemas and Fashion Avenue.
